شهدت الصورة الشعريَّة تطوُّرًا ملحوظًا على امتداد العصور، فواكبت التجديد الذي طال مرافق الحياة عامَّة، سواء سياسيَّة كانت أو اجتماعيَّة أو دينيَّة أو ثقافيَّة، ولاسيَّما أنَّ الشعر نال المنزلة الكبرى من عناية الإنسان العربيّ، فتنوَّعت مرجعيَّاته وأساليبه ووظائفه.
وجاء هذا البحث للكشف عن مكامن الصورة الشعريَّة في نتاج الشاعر عبَّاس العجيليّ، الذي تميَّز بأسلوبه الرصين وواقعيته في الطرح؛ وهذا ما غرس في نفس الباحث أن يعمد الى دراسته، فهو شاعر تجديديّ محافظ على رصانة الشعر العربيّ القديم.
وتكشف الدراسة عن مرجعيَّات الصورة ومصادرها التي استقاها الشاعر، وهي المرجعيَّة الدينيَّة والتاريخيَّة، والتعمُّق في هذه المرجعيَّات التي كشفت لنا ما هي هذه الصور، وما أثرها في نفس الشاعر والمتلقِّي.

The poetic image witnessed a remarkable development throughout the ages, keeping pace with the renewal that affected the aspects of life in general, whether political, social, religious or cultural, especially since poetry received the greatest status from the attention of the Arab person, and its references, methods and functions diversified.
This research came to reveal the hidden meanings of the poetic image in the work of the poet Abbas Al-Ajili, who was distinguished by his sober style and realism in his presentation. This is what instilled in the researcher’s soul that he should intend to study it, as he is a renewal poet who maintains the sobriety of ancient Arabic poetry.
The study reveals the references and sources of the image that the poet derived, which is the religious and historical reference, and delving into these references revealed to us what these images are and what their impact was on the soul of the poet and the recipient.
