التطوُّر الصوتيّ أوَّل مظهر من مظاهر التطوُّر اللغويّ، فصفات الأصوات اللغويَّة تبدأ بالتغيُّر إلى صفات أخرى، ممَّا يؤدي إلى تكوُّن أصوات جديدة وموت أخرى. إنَّ ثبات أصوات الألفاظ يساعد على ثبات دلالتها، وتغيُّر أصواتها يساعد على تغيُّرِ دلالتها، فالألفاظ تكتسب دلالتها من خلال دلالة أصواتها، والتطوُّر الصوتيّ يحدث في معظم الأوقات من تلقاء نفسه لا دخل فيه للإرادة الإنسانيَّة، وهو من الظواهر الجبريَّة؛ لأنَّه يخضع لقوانين محدَّدة، فضلًا عن أنَّه مقيَّد بزمان ومكان، فمعظم ظواهر التطوُّر الصوتيّ يقتصر أثرها على بيئة معيَّنة وزمن خاص.
حاولنا ذكر ألفاظ تستعمل في لهجة مدينة الحِلَّة العربيَّة، وهي من لهجات مدن الفرات الأوسط العراقيَّة التي تشترك في كثير من الخصائص اللغويَّة، وقمنا بذكر دلالاتها المتعدِّدة، وما جرى عليها من تغيُّرات وتطوُّرات صوتيَّة.

We tried to mention words used in the Arabic accent of Hilla city, It is one of the accents of the Iraqi cities of the Middle Euphrates, which share many linguistic characteristics. We mentioned its multiple implications, and the phonological changes and developments that took place on it.
